Women and World War II
In America, women (and minorities) took factory jobs that the men had left behind when they went to war. Women workers (nicknamed Rosie the Riveter) made the planes, tanks, guns, and bombs that America needed to win war.
Rationing
During WWII, the government rationed (limited) what people could buy to conserve materials for the war effort. People were given ration stamps that they had to use when buying certain items (ex: food, rubber, metal, gasoline).
